I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.
Geneva Williams changed the world through her impact of changing the lives of each person she helped. Subsequently, their new way of being or thinking positively impacted those in their lives, and thus, the impact of small individual ripples became large waves in the world.
She was a disrupter who challenged others to take action when they saw a need. To put more effort and critical thinking into the Social Work space.
She was committed to the service of humanity and to social justice.
Geneva Williams was born in 1946 in Charleston, SC. She was the second eldest of 7 children born to Otis and Lizzie Williams.
She was a precocious child with an exceptional commitment and focus. In pursuit of her academic endeavors she graduated in the top percent of her class at Burke High School, City College of New York, and Columbia University where she obtained her Masters of Social Work. She later completed one year towards her Ph.D. at the University of Houston.
With her exceptional abilities, she became a beacon of hope and healing for countless individuals who sought her guidance. Geneva's expertise as a psychotherapist enabled her to empower others, helping them to navigate the complexities of their lives and to find strength in their personal journeys.
Her dedication to education and empowerment led her to establish a lasting legacy. Her daughter, Khadija Kheir Prince, recognizing the profound impact her mother made, has taken up the mantle by establishing the 'Geneva Williams Foundation' in her honor.
